Welcome to NPT Region III's Early Childhood Education Program
In our Early Childhood Education class, we explore a comprehensive range of topics essential for fostering children's growth and well-being. We delve into child development principles, career opportunities within the field, and approaches to supporting children with special needs. Observational techniques and assessment strategies are covered, alongside effective behavior management practices. We emphasize the importance of children's safety, health, and nutrition, while also highlighting ways to engage families and the community. Advocacy within early childhood education is a key focus, along with curriculum development tailored to diverse learning needs. Additionally, we discuss the steps for opening your own childcare business and review Maine state licensing regulations and Early Learning Standards, equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in this vital field.
Hands-On Training
During their field placement, the student gains valuable experience working in public schools, private centers, family childcare settings, and Head Start programs across Enfield, Millinocket, and Lincoln. They implement an infant care curriculum utilizing state-of-the-art REALCARE dolls to enhance hands-on learning. Additionally, they partner with the Lincoln Public Library to organize a monthly children's activity hour, fostering community engagement and encouraging early literacy among young learners.
